SIDgen Generates Error Because Of Account Access to Folders

Details

When you install LM Tools on a template, you specify the account that performs the customization (for example, changing the SID). This account is usually the Administrator account.

If this account does not have access to all the folders on the hard disk, SIDgen generates this error when you create a Workspace virtual machine and deploy it for the first time with LM Tools:

Error 0 obtaining security for <file name>

Solution

To address this situation from the template, use Sysprep (described in the VMware Lab Manager User's Guide at http://www.vmware.com/pdf/labmanager_Users_Guide.pdf) or allow access to all the folders on the hard disk from that user account.
