2.2.18 Kernel Erroneously Loading SuSE Linux Modules on Linux Host

Details

When I run the vmware-config.pl configuration program on my Linux host, the script tries to install SuSE Linux modules.

Solution

If you are running a Linux 2.2.18 kernel and have problems using the VMware GSX Server vmware-config.pl configuration program (it might attempt to load SuSE Linux modules), try running the program again with the--compile option. Type the following at a command prompt:

vmware-config.pl --compile

Note: This issue is fixed in GSX Server 2.5. VMware suggests you upgrade to this version or later.
