Deploying a virtual machine from template times out with an error

Details

  • Cannot deploy a virtual machine from a template
  • Deploying a new virtual machine from template fails with the error:

    Failed to get file by Network Copy. Reason 3()

  • Checking the vmware-ccagent.log or hostd.log shows:

    app| [NFC ERROR] NfcNetTcpRead: timed out waiting for data

Solution

Configuring the speed and duplex of a network link is important for reliable network operation. This problem is often seen when virtual NICs are incorrectly configured.
