Non-administrator users cannot save changes to VMware Tools Scripts (2978408)

Details

Non-administrator users cannot make changes in VMware Tools scripts (VMware Tools Properties > Scripts).

If a non-administrator user attempts to make changes in VMware Tools scripts, either:
  • No error message is displayed, but the changes are not made.
  • The following error is displayed:Cannot create the <drive>:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\<VMware-Tools-default-script> file. Make sure that the path and filename are correct.

Solution

Only administrator users can successfully edit VMware Tools scripts.
