LM Tools with SIDgen Fails on Windows 2000 With Mac Services (2855541)


If you have services for Mac on a Windows 2000 machine, and you use Lab Manager to create a Workspace virtual machine and deploy it for the first time with LM Tools, SIDgen fails with an error about the c:\Microsoft UAM Volume\Icon? file.

Mac services provide access to a share on a Windows machine from a Mac machine. The c:\Microsoft UAM Volume\Icon? file is the icon that shows up on your Mac machine.


To address this situation, use Sysprep (described in the VMware Lab Manager User's Guide at or delete that file.
