Can't Delete More Than 4096 Directory Entries at Once on a VMFS Volume

You can't use rm -rf to delete more than 4096 directory entries at once on a VMFS volume.

Use one of the following workarounds:

Delete the directories through VirtualCenter's datastore browser.
Use rm -rf multiple times, until all the entries are deleted. Each invocation of rm -rf will delete at most 4096 entries.
