In Cases Involving Software iSCSI, All Paths to a LUN Are No Longer Accessible and an Infinite Abort Loop Results (2298)

Details

In cases involving software iSCSI, why does my virtual machine go into an infinite abort loop when all paths to a LUN are no longer accessible?

Solution

Where software iSCSI is involved, when all paths to a LUN are no longer accessible and a virtual machine is undergoing heavy I/O, the virtual machine goes into an abort loop. The virtual machine is nonresponsive.

To work around this problem, reboot the virtual machine.

Note: This issue is fixed in ESX Server 3.0.1.
