Using iLO2 Virtual Media or IRC (Remote Console) Fails on Either a ML570 G4 or DL580 G4 (2285)

Details

A VMware ESX Server 3.0 installation using iLO2 virtual media or IRC (remote console) fails on a ProLiant ML570 G4 Server or DL580 G4 Server system.

Solution

To work around the iLO2 virtual media issue, use the local CD-ROM drive to install VMware ESX Server 3.0. There is no known workaround for the IRC (remote console) issue.

Note: These issues are resolved in ESX Server 3.0.1.
