Why am I getting error messages when I install 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux?

Solution

Installation of 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Updates 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8 SMP kernel can occasionally fail with an Anaconda ImportError message.

This failure might be accompanied by any of a number of error messages indicating that a library is missing. The following error messages have been observed:

  • ImportError: libgssapi_krb5.so.2: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory
  • /usr/bin/python2.2: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2: cannot open shared object file: Error 6 install exited abnormally
  • exec of anaconda failed: Permission deniedinstall exited abnormally
  • /usr/bin/python2.2: error while loading shared libraries: /lib64/libc.so.6: cannot read file data: Invalid argument
  • exec of anaconda failed: Permission deniedinstall exited abnormally

To work around this issue, retry the installation.
