Why do I get an error when I change the power options setting on my virtual machine on an ESX Server 2.0.1 host?

Solution

If a virtual machine is associated with a VMware ESX Server 2.0.1 host, an Operation not supported error occurs if you change the virtual machine's power options setting when the virtual machine is powered on.

To solve this problem, first power off the virtual machine and then change the power options setting.
