Does the Stopped tracking Time of Day clock warning from Solaris indicate anything serious?
Solution
Solaris might report one of the following messages:
WARNING: Time of Day clock error: reason [Stalled]. -- Stopped tracking Time Of Day clock. WARNING: Time of Day clock error: reason [Jumped]. -- Stopped tracking Time Of Day clock.
The warnings are harmless, and you can safely ignore them.
You can suppress the warnings by adding the following line to /etc/system in your virtual machine: set tod_validate_enable = 0
VMware recommends that you also install VMware Tools in your virtual machine and turn on time synchronization to ensure that time is accurate.
