Virtual Machine Powers Off if Attempting to Connect SCSI Device in a Powered On Virtual Machine (2248)

Details

Why does my virtual machine power off when I try to connect to a SCSI device in a powered-on virtual machine?

Solution

If you try to connect a SCSI device on a powered-on virtual machine, the virtual machine will power off. This is because the connect/disconnect operations are not supported by the backend for SCSI devices.

Workaround: None. SCSI devices should not be connected or disconnected on a powered-on virtual machine.
