Storage Drivers for the VMware LSI Logic Storage Adapter Are Not Available in Windows XP (2241)

I am trying to perform an unattended installation of Windows XP over the network using a PXE server, and the installation terminates with a blue screen error. What should I do?

Solution

This issue is resolved in ESX 3.0.1 and VirtualCenter 2.0.1.

A Windows XP guest is created with an LSI Logic adapter as the default SCSI controller. However, drivers for this device are not available on the unattended installation image. You must download the driver from the download center at the LSI Logic Web site.

Go to http://www.lsi.com/support/ and look for the LSI53C1030 SCSI adapter driver for your guest operating system. The LSI Logic Web site also provides an installation guide for the LSI Logic Fusion-MPT driver SYMMPI.SYS V1.xx.xx.

Note: When searching the LSI logic website you may need to look under legacy products.
