Additional VI Client Sessions Unable to Connect to an ESX Server Host During a VMFS-2 to VMFS-3 Upgrade

I cannot connect to an ESX Server host using the VI Client. Why?

Solution

During an upgrade from VMFS-2 to VMFS-3 initiated through the VI Client, additional VI Client connections will be unable to connect directly to the ESX Server host accessing the datastores being upgraded.

Wait until the VMFS-2 to VMFS-3 upgrade is complete before initiating new VI Client connections directly to an ESX Server host.
