Virtual Machines That Were Participating in AutoStart Are No Longer Involved in AutoStart (2232)

Details

Why are virtual machines that were participating in AutoStart no longer involved in AutoStart?

Solution

When an ESX Server 2.x host is upgraded to ESX Server 3.0, any virtual machines that were participating in AutoStart are no longer involved in AutoStart following the upgrade.

The virtual machines must be manually configured to participate in AutoStart following the upgrade. Do this through the VI Client, as decribed in the Installation and Upgrade Guide at http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_installation_guide.pdf.

Note: This issue is fixed in ESX Server 3.0.1.
