Why am I having trouble creating a virtual machine disk larger than 262GB?

Solution

You see this problem because the maximum file size variable, maxFileSize, is not correct in the DatastoreInfo object that is returned for queryConfigTarget.

To work around this problem, use VI Client to create the virtual machine.

Note: This issue is fixed in VirtualCenter 2.0.1.
