Some Prechecked Items Cannot Be Checked Back to License Pool (2170)
Details
I used the VI Client to change the ESX Server license type for one of my ESX Server hosts to unlicensed. Licenses for add-on features that had been configured for that host were not released back to the license pool. How do I release these licenses?
Solution
Using the VI Client to change ESX Server license type back to unlicensed might not automatically release feature add-ons (such as VMotion, vSMP, and Consolidated Backup).
Use the Host Configuration>Licensed Features>Add-Ons>Edit menu to uncheck and release feature add-ons.
