Why does my display go blank when I install through a remote interface?

Solution

When you boot from the ESX Server 3.0 installation media using the remote interface on some Intel or IBM blade servers, the display window goes blank or displays an error message: eServer, No Video Available.

To work around this problem on Intel blade servers, such as the SBX 82, type esx nofb at the ESX Server installer mode selection page to start the installer.

On IBM blade servers, such as the HS20, type esx vga=788 at the ESX Server installer mode selection page to start the installer.
