Only One Virtual Machine Appears in Legato NetWorker IM GUI After Backing Up Multiple Virtual Machines (2144)

Details

I'm running VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB) with Legato NetWorker IM to back up multiple virtual machines in a single save set. During the restore operation, the NetWorker UI window shows only the last virtual machine that was backed up, but doesn't show the entire set. What's wrong?

Solution

When you run a single backup job for multiple virtual machines, each individual virtual machine completes its backup at a different time. Because of this, if you use the default recover option in the Legato Networker IM GUI, only the last virtual machine being backed up appears in the GUI, even though all virtual machines have been backed up successfully.

You can recover the virtual machines that don't show up in the NetWorker GUI by changing the browse time. Alternatively, you can use the save set recover option that appears under the operation menu in the networker GUI.

Note: This issue applies when running full virtual machine backups only.
