ESX Server 2.1.x and 2.0.x Do Not Provide Expected Configuration or Information for Raw Disks

Why do raw disks on ESX Server 2.0.x and 2.1.x appear as regular virtual disks, and why is the the size unavailable?

Solution

Raw disks on ESX Server 2.0.x and 2.1.x are erroneously displayed as regular virtual disks and the reported size of the disk is shown as not available. To work with raw disks, use the VMware Management Interface or VirtualCenter 2.0.1 or later.
