User ID Password Special Character Restriction

What characters should I not use when I create a user ID password on my ESX Server system?

ESX Server cannot accept the following characters as part of a user ID password:

$, \, (, ), &, `, >, <, ;, ', ", |

This issue is fixed in ESX Server 2.5.3 patch 2. For release notes and download information, see www.vmware.com/download/esx/esx-253-200606-patch.html.
