Details

Released 17 JUL 2014 | Build 1964818 | Site Recovery Manager 5.5.1.x Release Notes

Site Recovery Manager
uses OpenSSL for security operations. OpenSSL has issued a security advisory relating to various vulnerabilities. See https://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20140605.txt for details.

This version of Site Recovery Manager includes OpenSSL version 0.9.8za, which fixes the vulnerabilities.

Solution

If you are running Site Recovery Manager 5.5.x, upgrade to SRM 5.5.1.1.

Important: For possible issues with upgrading, see vSphere Replication 5.5.0 0 upgrade to 5.5.1.x results in re-configuring of database from external to embedded (2084539).

  1. Download the Site Recovery Manager 5.5.1.1 installer:

    1. Go to http://www.vmware.com/go/download-srm.
    2. Select version 5.5 from the dropdown menu.
    3. Click Go to Downloads.

  2. Upgrade Site Recovery Manager to version 5.5.1.1. How you upgrade depends on which version of Site Recovery Manager you are running.

    • If you are running Site Recovery Manager 5.5.0 or earlier, run the installer in the same way as for a normal upgrade. See Upgrading SRM and follow the procedure for upgrading to Site Recovery Manager 5.5.

    • If you are running Site Recovery Manager 5.5.1, you must uninstall Site Recovery Manager 5.5.1 before you install Site Recovery Manager 5.5.1.1:

      1. Uninstall Site Recovery Manager 5.5.1, retaining the contents of the database.

Important: Do not select the Remove database contents check box during the uninstallation.

      2. Install Site Recovery Manager 5.5.1.1, connecting Site Recovery Manager to the existing database during installation.

Important: Select Use existing database during the installation.

If you use vSphere Replication with Site Recovery Manager 5.5.x, you must also upgrade the vSphere Replication appliance. For more information, see vSphere Replication 5.5.1.1 Express Patch Release (2082666).
