- Nimble Storage CS-Series arrays
The Nimble Connection Manager (NCM) includes Nimble Connection Service (NCS) as a CIM provider. Beginning with Nimble operating system version 2.0 and the introduction of storage groups and pools, volumes can now span multiple arrays that have been grouped into storage pools. As a result, a host can no longer assume that the volume is fully accessible from one specific array.
To simplify configuring multiple connections, the Nimble operating system requires that only one IP address (the iSCSI discovery IP address) be advertised at the time of discovery, rather than advertising the array's full set of data IP addresses.
NCS automatically calculates and maintains the optimal number of iSCSI sessions in this environment. That means that you do not need to make specific connections to the data interfaces manually nor worry about how many connections are hosting a volume. Connections are made to the same discovery IP address, then they are redirected to the appropriate iSCSI data interfaces.
