Logging into the VMware vCloud Hybrid Service portal fails with the issue: Invalid Invite Token (2052363)

Symptoms

  • Cannot log in to the VMware vCloud Hybrid Service portal.
  • Logging into the vCloud Hybrid Service portal fails.
  • You see the error:

Invalid Invite Token. The provided invite token is invalid.

Cause

Log in issues can occur if:
  • You wait longer than 72 hours to log in after receiving the initial vCloud Hybrid Service activation email.
  • Your log in password contains an exclamation point (!).
  • You use uppercase characters in your log in email address.

Resolution

To ensure a successful log in:
  • Ensure that you log in within 72 hours of receiving the initial vCloud Hybrid Service activation email, as the link is active for only 72 hours. If you do not log in within 72 hours, you require a new activation email.

To receive a new activatin email:
    1. Navigate to https://vchs.vmware.com/login/.
    2. Click Forgot your password?
    3. Enter your email address and click Submit.

An email with a new link is sent to submitted email address.

  • Ensure that your vCloud Hybrid Service login password does not contain an exclamation point (!). To ensure that your password does not use an exclamation point, reset your password.

    To reset your password:
    1. Navigate to https://vchs.vmware.com/login/.
    2. Click Forgot your password?
    3. Enter your email address and click Submit.
    4. Enter a new password without an exclamation point.

  • Ensure that the email address you are using to log in to the vCloud Hybrid Service portal does not have any upper-case characters.

If a user email address has upper-case characters, delete the user in vCloud Hybrid Service, then recreate the user, ensuring that you use an all lower-case email address.

Additional Information

Users who log in with multiple vCloud Hybrid Service user accounts need to ensure that they log out of the accounts or delete browser cookies to properly switch accounts.

Email addresses are globally unique within the vCloud Hybrid Service system. This means if a single user has multiple vCloud Hybrid Service products, a different email address needs to be used for each one. The user cannot use one email address to log into the vCloud Hybrid Service portal for multiple products or offerings.
