Guidelines for setting up SMTP within a VMware vCloud Hybrid Service environment (2051332)
This article provides general information on configuring SMTP servers for use with VMware vCloud Hybrid Service.
To allow SMTP traffic out of the vCloud Hybrid Service system, appropriate firewall and/or NAT rules need to be configured on the Edge Gateway.
Any SMTP traffic that needs to reach the outside world from within the vCloud Hybrid Service environment also needs to pass through a SMTP relay. This is a security precaution put into place within vCloud Hybrid Service. The email application (for example, Microsoft Exchange) needs to be configured to use an SMTP relay within the application settings.
To obtain the proper relay information for your vCloud Hybrid Service subscription, file a Support Request with VMware Support. For more information, see Filing a Support Request in My VMware (2006985).
