Unable to open Guest OS console and it fails with: Error: The VMRC Console has Disconnected. Trying to reconnect (2050470)

Symptoms

  • You see this error when attempting to connect to a virtual machine console:

    Error: The VMRC Console has Disconnected.. Trying to reconnect


  • The web client could open a VMRC session, but not with vSphere client .

Cause

This issue could be caused by Application Control software such as Anti-Virus Software that has the ability to block certain applications or functions of installed software on client/server systems.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, try any of the steps below:
  • Disable application control for virtual applications through the anti-virus software.
  • Uninstall and reinstall vSphere Client .
  • Stop theĀ vmware-vmrc.exe *32 service from Windows Task Manager and then log back in.

Impact/Risks

Depending on anti-virus architecture it maybe necessary to have access to web GUI of the security server or hosted portal to disable certain settings.
