VMware Update Manger 1.0 bundled with vCenter Server 2.5 Update 6.x might fail to download patches for Windows virtual machines (2045683)
Details
When you initiate download of Windows virtual machine patches by using VMware Update Manager 1.0, an error message similar to the following is displayed:
Cannot de-obfuscate Shavlik metadata file.
The log files might contain entries similar to the following:

Solution
This is a known issue with VMware Update Manager 1.0 Update 6 that isĀ available with Virtual Center Server 2.5 Update 6.x.
To resolve this issue, upgrade Virtual Center Server to vCenter Server version 4.1 Update 3a and Update Manager to versionĀ 4.1 Update 3.
