System MOTD banner might display incorrect message during multiple upgrades (2045530)

Details

During multiple upgrades, for example, from ESX 4.0 or ESX 4.1 to ESXi 5.1, the message-of-the-day (MOTD) banner displays an incorrect message similar to the following:
This system has been migrate to ESXi 5.0.0

Solution

This issue has no functional impact on the system.
It only results in an incorrect login message. You can always edit the message displayed by MOTD using Edit /etc/motd.
