Installing SSO on an Oracle database fails with the error: Error 29115. Cannot authenticate to DB (2045467)

Symptoms

  • Cannot install vCenter Single Sign On (SSO) on an existing database.
  • Installing SSO fails.
  • You see the error:

    Error 29115 Cannot authenticate to DB
  • In the vminst.log file, you see entries similar to:

Resolution

To work around this issue in the Database Information screen during the SSO installation:

  1. Enter the RSA_USER and RSA_DBA usernames in capital letters.
  2. Use the JDBC URL by clicking Next and then Back to populate the box.
  3. Ensure to select the JDBC option, so that the JDBC URL is used.
