ESX/ESXi hosts do not reconnect to vCenter Server if a host profile changes their hostname (2045424)
Symptoms
When applying a host profile to an ESX/ESXi host that is added to the vCenter Server inventory using hostname (and not the IP address), you experience these symptoms: .
- If the host profile changes the hostname of the ESX/ESXi host, the host becomes disconnected.
- The host fails to reconnect automatically to vCenter Server if the host profile changes the hostname and IP address.
Resolution
To work around the issue, use one of these options:
- Do not change your ESX/ESXi hostnames as part of your host profile operations
- Add your hosts to the vCenter Server using the IP address
