End of Availability for VMware vSphere Standard with Operations Management (2045410)
Purpose
Details
As of March 14, 2013, VMware will no longer offer the VMware vSphere Standard with Operations Management edition that was introduced in 2012. This edition contained these components:
- VMware vSphere Standard
- VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite Standard
- VMware vCenter Protect Standard
If you have purchased this edition, you are entitled to a new offering known as VMware vSphere with Operations Management Standard. This edition contains these products:
- VMware vSphere Standard
- VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite Standard
This edition does not include the vCenter Protect Standard. As a result, VMware will offer customers vCenter Protect Standard separately.
If you purchased the previous edition, you can upgrade to the new VMware vSphere with Operations Management Standard via My VMware. For more information, see Upgrading license keys in My VMware (2006974).
If you purchased vCenter Protect Standard as part of your previous vSphere Standard with Operations Management edition, there will be a new license key available in My VMware. The new license key will be needed for vCenter Protect Standard after upgrading to the new VMware vSphere with Operations Management Standard edition as the new VMware vSphere with Operations Management Standard license key will not work with vCenter Protect Standard.
There is no immediate action that you are required to take, and there will be no impact to your Support and Subscription (SnS) as long as it is active. Additionally, there will be no impact on your ability to continue to use the components already purchased.
My VMware will be updated and will contain more information about this transition by March 14, 2013. You will see a subscription upgrade alert in My VMware.
