End of Availability and End of Support for VMware Go and Go Pro (2044938)

Purpose

This article provides a transcript of the communication sent by VMware on February 21, 2013 about the End of Availability and End of Support Life for VMware Go and Go Pro.

Details

Dear Valued Customer,

VMware Go™ and Go Pro were targeted to service the “Onboarding to Virtualization” and “IT Management” needs of small and midsize business customers. Over the past few releases of vSphere, VMware has taken steps to ease the vSphere installation experience and added vCenter Operations Manager Foundation to provide the IT Management capabilities. To prevent product functionality overlap, VMware has announced that no further orders for VMware Go Pro™ will be accepted beginning March 1, 2013, the End of Availability (“EOA”) date for VMware Go and VMware Go Pro. VMware has also announced that all technical support and maintenance services for VMware Go and VMware Go Pro will cease on March 15, 2014, the End of Support Life (“EOSL”) date. On the EOSL date, the information stored in VMware Go and VMware Go Pro will be irrecoverably deleted to protect our customers’ privacy. You can find general FAQs here.

Current VMware Go Pro subscribers will be able to access VMware Go Pro until the end of their current subscription period or the EOSL date of March 15, 2014, whichever comes first. The site will continue to be hosted, and all data necessary for patching will be maintained until March 15, 2014.

Customers may choose to purchase an edition of vCenter Protect, which provides more advanced patching capabilities than VMware Go Pro:

  • vCenter Protect Standard provides advanced patch management and asset inventory that enables you to discover and maintain a current inventory of all hardware and software assets.
  • vCenter Protect Advanced adds advanced ITScripting to automate common workflow processes and power management capabilities to lower management costs, in addition to advanced patch management and asset inventory.

If you are a current VMware Go Pro customer with a subscription expiring beyond March 15, 2014, a VMware representative will contact you to discuss options for continuing to use patching capabilities after the EOSL date for Go Pro.

Sincerely,
The VMware vSphere team
