After upgrading ESXi to 4.1 Update 3, Trend Micro thin-agent drivers report as Offline (2044676)
Symptoms
- When running Trend Micro Deep Security, upgrading to ESXi 4.1 Update 3 from any prior build of ESXi causes Deep Security protected virtual machines to experience communication issues between the
thin-agentin the virtual machine, thedvfilter-dsadriver, and Deep Security Manager. - The issue occurs specifically when a virtual machine is suspended and resumed on the upgraded hosts, or a migration using vMotion to the upgraded host is performed.
- Connectivity can be temporarily restored with a cold boot (power off and power on the affected virtual machine), but the issue reoccurs if the virtual machine is suspended and resumed, or a migration using vMotion is performed.
