Details

The network connectivity might be lost on guest operating systems when DirectPath I/O is enabled with vMotion.
This issue occurs during a guest operating system upgrade if the inbox driver from the VMware Tools package is replaced by the operating system driver.

Solution

Workaround:

Reinstall the VMware Tools package or upgrade to the following minimum required version of VMXNET3 driver that is provided in ESX 5.0 VMware Tools :

For Linux operating systems: 1.0.14.0-k-NAPI version of VMXNET 3 driver
For Windows operating systems: 1.2.22.0 version of VMXNET3 driver
