Configuring Netflow information in the Distributed Virtual Switch does not retain in VMware vCenter Server 5.0 (2044419)

Symptoms

When rebooting the vCenter Server after configuring port information for Netflow in the Distributed Virtual Switch (DVS), you may experience the following:
  • When configuring the port information for Netflow in the Distributed Virtual Switch for vCenter Server 5.0, the information does not retain after the server is rebooted.
  • The port specified has been pushed to the ESX/ESXi host and the Netflow communication will continue on the initial port specified.

Cause

This issue occurs when the vCenter Server database does not retain the value entered in the vSphere Client.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting vCenter Server 5.0.x. Currently, there is no resolution.

To workaround this issue, attempt either of the following:
  • Upgrade to VMware vCenter Server 5.1.
  • Update the DVS Netflow configuration after each reboot of the vCenter Server.

Note: Despite the configuration not being updated in the database, the port specified is pushed to the ESX/ESXi host and the Netflow communication continues on the initial port specified.
