-
Performing an SRS security request in vCM fails
-
You see the error:
A web service error has occurred performing an SRS security request.
You must use Internet Explorer with the Run as administrator option to view dashboard reports when working locally on the Collector.
Purpose
This issue is due to a two-tier installation in VMware vCenter Configuration Manager 5.6, where SQL and SSRS are installed on the database server, yet vCenter Configuration Manager and web services are installed on the collector machine.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, perform the steps provided in SSRS authentication must be configured in two-tier and three-tier installation environments that use Basic authentication (2000082).
If the issue persists, proceed with the steps below:
- Go to the collector machine where vCenter Configuration Manager and web services are installed.
- Create a folder called Reports in this folder:
<installation directory>\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VCM\WebConsole\L1033\Files\Reports
- Copy only RSLanguageConfig.xml file that is in the database machine where SQL and SSRS are installed.
- Paste it into the Collector box, or into this folder:
<installation directory>\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VCM\WebConsole\L1033\Files\Reports to the collector+web machine
You should now be able to access the dashboard and reports section from the vCenter Configuration Manager console.
