Color scheme defaults to black/white when Thinprint redirects printer to a desktop virtual machine in VMware View Manager 4.x / 5.x (2044101)
Symptoms
When Thinprint redirects printer to a desktop virtual machine, the color scheme in printer properties defaults to to black/white.
Cause
Thinprint does not transfer the current color setting to the virtual printers, which is why you will always see the default set to black/white for the redirected printer.
Even if you set the virtual printer to color manually, the setting is deleted when you disconnect from a View session.
Resolution
The color scheme in printer properties on the Client machine is set to color. To set the default properties in Windows to color, complete these steps:
- Click the Properties tab for the printer you want to use.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Select printer Defaults at the bottom of the graphical user interface (GUI).
- When a new screen displays, click the Color tab.
