This article provides answers to frequently asked questions on the End of Availability and End of Support for VMware Horizon Application Manager.

Resolution

Overview

VMware has announced the end of availability (EOA) of VMware Horizon Application Manager, effective on March 31, 2013. No further orders for VMware Horizon Application Manager will be accepted after this date. VMware is not changing any of the previously announced lifecycle policy and timelines. The end of General Support date for Horizon Application Manager is June 13, 2015 and the end of Technical Guidance date is June 13, 2017. Therefore the End of Support Life (EOSL) date for Horizon Application Manager is June 13, 2017.
 
Functionality in VMware Horizon Application Manager is now included in VMware Horizon Workspace and VMware Horizon Suite as a product preview (where geographically available).

What did VMware announce regarding VMware Horizon Application Manager?

VMware announced the end of availability (EOA) of the VMware Horizon Application Manager standalone product. This discontinuation is effective on March 31, 2013. No further orders for VMware Horizon Application Manager will be accepted after this date.

The functionality from VMware Horizon Application Manager is now included in VMware Horizon Workspace and VMware Horizon Suite as a product preview (where geographically available).

Can I purchase more Horizon Application Manager Client licenses after the EOA date?

No, you will not be able to purchase VMware Horizon Application Manager Licenses after March 31, 2013.

Can I still get VMware Horizon Application Manager support?

Yes, you may continue to obtain technical support and maintenance for the VMware Horizon Application Manager product up until the End of Support Life (EOSL) date if you have a currently active VMware Support & Subscription service contract. You should continue to use the same support tools and methods for logging support cases.

What if my VMware Horizon Application Manager Support & Subscription service contract goes beyond the EOSL date?

If you have an active VMware Support & Subscription contract for Horizon Application Manager that expires after the EOSL date, VMware Sales or your VMware Reseller representative will contact you regarding the unused portion of your contract.

Can I continue to use VMware Horizon Application Manager after EOA and EOSL?

Yes, you may continue to use your VMware Horizon Application Manager deployment indefinitely. There may be new operating systems or hardware changes that may prevent VMware Horizon Application Manager from working, so your timeframe may be determined by your rate of adoption of new technology and by the VMware Horizon Application Manager features you use.

Why is VMware Horizon Application Manager being discontinued?

VMware has introduced two new products to the Horizon Family: Horizon Suite and Horizon Workspace. These products are in line with our broader company vision to enable IT to provide data and applications to employees regardless of their device endpoint.

Is there a migration or upgrade path from VMware Horizon Application Manager?

There is an upgrade path to VMware Horizon Workspace for customers who have purchased VMware Horizon Application Manager and have an active VMware Support & Subscription service contract. Contact VMware Sales or your VMware Reseller representative for more information.

What if I received VMware Horizon Application Manager as part of the 2012 vSphere promotions?

Customers redeeming licenses for this promotion will be provided an upgrade to VMware Horizon Workspace for a limited time and contacted directly by VMware.
