Disabling host time synchronization in the UI or Analytics VM (2043737)

Purpose

When VMware Tools is installed in the UI VM and Anayltics VM, the host (ESX/ESXi) time synchronization is enabled by default. 
 
This article provides steps to disable the host time synchronization in the UI and Anayltics VM.

Resolution

To disable host time synchronization in the UI and Anayltics VM:

  1. Log in to the UI or Analytics VM as root.
  2. Run this command to disable VMware Tools host time synchronization:
vmware-toolbox-cmd timesync disable
Note: To re-enable the VMware Tools host time synchronization, use this command:
 
vmware-toolbox-cmd timesync enable

Additional Information

You can manually set the date using the date command. For more information on the proper syntax of the date command, run this command:
 
date --help
