vSphere Web Client 5.1 fails to display the Advanced performance view of a virtual machine (2042770)

When using the Advanced Performance view in the vSphere Web Client, you see the message:

Performance data is not currently available for this entry
On the right side of the vSphere Web Client screen you may also see the error:

For input string X.X

This is a known issue affecting vSphere Web Client 5.1 and vCenter Server 5.1.
