Generating an installation log file for VMware vCenter Protect 8.x (2042111)

Purpose

This article provides information on configuring vCenter Protect formerly known as Shavlik NetChk) to create an Installation Log File.

Resolution

Installation logging is generally captured by default and the filename and location vary by application.

Verbose level logging for any of our installations can be captured and written to a specific file by utilizing this command line syntax:

{installer} /wi:"/l*vx {path}\{name}"

where
  • '{installer}' is the name of the installation file
  • '{path}' is the desired directory to which the file is to be written
  • '{name}' is the desired name of the log file to be generated
