Virtual machine name appears blank in Virtual Machine Settings of HA cluster (2041995)
Symptoms
- After converting a virtual machine to a template, the virtual machine continues to remain in the list of virtual machines in Virtual Machine Settings of HA cluster
- The name of the virtual machine is blank
Cause
This issue occurs if you convert a virtual machine to a template when the Virtual Machine Settings ( VM Restart Priority or Host Isolation Response) option has non default settings.
To view Virtual Machine Settings ( VM Restart Priority or Host Isolation Response), go to Virtual Machine settings on HA cluster > vSphere HA > Virtual Machine Options.
Resolution
This is a known issue in vCenter Server 4.x/5.x.
To work around to this issue, before converting the virtual machine to a template, set Virtual Machine settings on HA cluster (VM Restart Priority and Host Isolation Response) to default.
