Networking license keys for a fresh installation of VMware vCloud Director 5.1.x (2041396)

Purpose

When upgrading a vCloud Director 1.5.x environment to a 5.1.x environment, the vCloud Director binary and vShield/vCNS manager binary also need to be upgraded.

When performing an upgrade from an existing installation of vCloud Director and vShield Manager, firewall, Network Address Translation (NAT), and DHCP functionality continue to function in the new environment without any new license keys required.

However, when performing a fresh install of the entire environment, only the vCloud Director binary functions without requiring a new license key. To enable the vShield/vCNS manager binary, a separate license key is required and needs to be downloaded.

This article provides instructions on downloading the required license key for enabling firewall, NAT, and DHCP with the vCNS manager binary.

Resolution

Download the file vCloud_Networking_and_Security_Networking_for_VCD_5.0_license key.txt from the VMware vCloud Director 5.1.2 Download Center

Open the file to extract the license key. Use this key to enable firewall, NAT, and DHCP functionality in vCNS 5.1.1 or 5.1.2.
