After Stretch Deploy, unable to add a new VM to the vApp using the same vApp network (vCloud Director only) (2041316)

Details

After you stretch deploy a VM from a vCloud Director cloud to another vCloud Director cloud, you cannot add a VM to the routed vApp in the destination cloud if you specify the same vApp network in which the SSL VPN tunnel is present. Similarly, you cannot add a VM to the source vApp if you specify the vApp network in which the SSL VPN tunnel is present. The VM is created but the network adaptor is not added to the VM and you get an error.

Solution

If you want to add VMs to a routed vApp where an SSL VPN tunnel originates or terminates, do one of the following:
  • While creating the VM, do not select the vApp network where the SSL VPN tunnel originates or terminates. After you create the VM, right-click on it and select Properties. In the Hardware tab, in the NICs section, update the NIC card with the vApp network information.
  • While creating the VM, if you select the vApp network where the SSL VPN tunnel originates or terminates, you will get a "No network adaptor found" error. After you create the VM, right-click on it and select Properties. In the Hardware tab, in the NICs section, update the NIC card with the vApp network information.
