Backing up and restoring reports in Report Designer in VMware Service Manager 9.x (2039862)
Purpose
This article provides information on backing up and restoring reports in the Report Designer module of VMware Service Manager 9.x.
Resolution
This information is useful when you are modifying standard reports to ensure you can restore back to default, particularly the reports contained within the Tickets folder.
To create the backup, in Report Designer, right-click on the report you want to backup and click Save to File.
To restore from backup:
- In Report Designer, right-click on the report you want to backup and click Open.
- In the report editor window of the opened report, click File > Load from File.
Caution: Complete the above steps as described. Using the Load from File function from the folders view instead creates a new report in that folder instead of restoring the intended report. This is especially important to remember if you are restoring reports in the Tickets folder, as the new report will not be recognized and used. It will continue to look to the original Call Report. Deleting the original Call Report from the Ticket folder causes the call report from the call details screen to fail. For example, if you create a new Call Report in the Ticket folder, the new call report will not be used when running a Call Report from the Call Details screen.
