Addressing Incompatible StartScript Property Values when Installing vFabric AppInsight 5.0 on WebLogic servers (2039776)

In certain cases, when the AppInsight code agent is installed on a WebLogic application server, the start script properties have values that are incompatible with AppInsight.

To check that the properties are compatible, in <wl_home>/common/nodemanager/nodemanager.properties, verify that StartScriptEnabled=true and StartScriptName=startWebLogic.sh. On Windows, the property is StartScriptName=startWebLogic.cmd.

If one or both of these properties have other values, follow the procedure below.

Solution

  1. After you have completed the installation of the code agent, before you restart the administration server, node manager and/or instrumented managed servers, open the startWebLogic.sh  script in the bin folder of the domain.
  2. Identify and copy the code between the two comments # Insight agent properties and # End of Insight agent properties.
  3. Paste the lines into the script that is used in your environment for starting up servers.
