VMware Tools related values are displayed under incorrect headings in Windows Performance Monitor on a virtual machine (2039248)
Symptoms
perfmon.exe) in a virtual machine:- When you right-click on the performance graph and click Add Counters, then expand the Win32_PerfRawData_vmGuestLib_VCPU and Win32_PerfRawData_vmGuestLib_VMEM headings, they both show VMware Tools related values (for example,
CpuLimitMHzandMemActiveMB).
Resolution
To work around this issue:
- Change the system locale on your virtual machine to a locale which is not the default for that system. For more information, see the Microsoft article, Change the system locale.
Note: Make note of the original system locale for use later in this procedure. - Reboot your virtual machine for the change to take effect.
- Uninstall and reinstall VMware Tools. For more information, see the Resolution section of VMware Tools may not install on a Windows guest operating system after upgrading to a newer version of ESXi/ESX (1012693).
- Change the system locale back to what it was configured to by default. For more information, see the Microsoft article, Change the system locale.
- Reboot your virtual machine for the change to take effect.
VMware Tools related values now appear under the VM Processor and VM Memory headings.
