Symptoms
- ESXi 5.1 host fails with a purple diagnostic screen when a virtual machine configured with a PCI pass-through device is powered on

Resolution
This is a known issue in ESXi 5.1. The workaround is to reinstall ESX 5.0.
This issue is resolved in ESXi 5.1, Patch ESXi510-201212401-BG.
