Upgrading from vSphere 5.1 to 5.1.0b with Simple Install (2038472)

Purpose

This article provides information about upgrading from vCenter Server 5.1 to 5.1.0b using Simple Install.

Resolution

If you have already upgraded to 5.1.0 using the simple installation process, follow the custom installation steps to upgrade to 5.1.0b in this order:

vCenter Single Sign On
vCenter Inventory Service
vCenter Server

Follow the same step-by-step upgrade procedure if you started the upgrade process and received this error:

You cannot use vCenter Simple Install for this install/upgrade. vCenter packages are already installed...
