Unable to delete a user or group from a vCenter Single Sign On (SSO) group (2037102)

Symptoms

  • Cannot remove an Active Directory user or group from the built-in LSAdministrators or other SSO group
  • Cannot delete a user or group from a vCenter Single Sign On (SSO) group
  • Removing a user or group from a SSO group fails
  • You see the error:
Error: The "Delete group" operation failed for the entity with the following error message. The specified principal (AD group) is invalid.
  • If you are attempting to remove a user principal, you do not see any errors, but the user is not removed from the group

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 5.1 Update 1. To download vCenter 5.1 Update 1, see the VMware Download Center.

Note: When attempting to remove a user, select the user and then click the Red X button. You are prompted with a dialog to confirm the removal. Right-clicking or selecting Remove Principal from the Actions menu attempts to remove the principal itself and not the assignment to the group.

Update History
